Evil Eye

The term "evil eye" might cause you to be scared a little. This is actually a belief among Cypriots that when a person shot you a hateful look he or she is giving you the "evil eye". They said that something bad would happen to the person, animal or plant that got the “evil eye”. They may get sick or even die. As protection, Cypriots uses blue beads as amulets, also known as the Nazar Boncuk, to safeguard themselves.

Blue amulets usually take the shape of a circle and may come in different sizes. They can be worn as body accessories like necklaces, bracelets, or earrings. These amulets can also be place in their houses or vehicles as protection.
